The CrossFit Open kicks off on February 28th at Factorial!

WHAT IS THE OPEN?
The CrossFit Open heralds the start of the CrossFit Games season worldwide. It’s both a pathway for athletes to reach the Games, and a global celebration of fitness! The Open is where magic unfolds – where PRs rain down like confetti, from double-unders to muscle-ups, and where our community spirit hits an all-time high!

WHO’S IN?
We want YOU, yes, every last one of you! Whether you're a rookie, a seasoned athlete, or somewhere in between, this is your moment to shine. With options for masters, brand-new athletes, scaled, and Rx divisions to choose from every week, there's a place for everyone.
Things will be a little different around the gym during the Open, so whether you’re participating or not, here’s a rundown of what you can expect.
Every Thursday, a new workout will be released. If you are registered for the global CrossFit Open, you will have until the following Monday at 7:00pm CST to do the workout and submit your score online.
MODIFIED WEEKEND SCHEDULES
We have modified the weekend schedule to accommodate participants and non-participants of the Open and provide the best experience possible for both.

FRIDAYS
For those registered in the worldwide CrossFit Open, three class slots are available each Friday to accommodate heats and required judging. Come prepared to do the workout AND to judge other Open participants during their heats.5:30 AM - 7:30 AM
8:30 AM - 10:30 AM
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
SATURDAY & SUNDAY
The week’s Open workout will be programmed as the 10:30 AM class on both Saturday and Sunday for anyone who is unable to participate on Friday or would like to redo the workout. Judges will be provided at these times.
HEAT SIGN-UPS
After you arrive at the gym, you will need to sign up for your preferred heat time on a sign-up sheet at the front. Heat times will vary weekly depending on the number of athletes in the class and the time cap of the workout. You will be required to have a valid judge and spots are first-come, first-served.
Judges are vital to our ability to run the Open smoothly and fairly. You will need a judge for your workout, so you should expect to pay it forward to other athletes. If you are signed up for the Open, plan to judge at least one athlete in a heat before or after yours every week!

FRIDAY
For those NOT registered for the global CrossFit Open, three 1-hour CrossFit classes will be held each Friday (2/28, 3/7, 3/14) at the following times:
5:30 AM - 6:30 AM
8:30 AM - 9:30 AM
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
The workout will be that week’s Open workout, and you will be taken through a full, normal class with a warmup, skill work, WOD, and cooldown.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY
We will host regular CrossFit classes with our normal programmed WODs each Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 AM and 9:15 AM.
However, please be aware that each Sat & Sun at 10:30, the week’s Open workout will be programmed in the class. If you would like to do the workout of the day, please plan to join an earlier class or sign up for open gym.

Open gym will be available at the following time slots on Fridays during the Open:
5:30 AM - 10:30 AM
Gym closed from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Open gym will be run as usual on Saturdays and Sundays with no modifications.
GYM SETUP
The gym will be set up into three main areas: the CrossFit class workout area, the Open workout area, and the open gym area. These will change week to week depending on the space and equipment needed for the workout.

A regular CrossFit class will be held in one area of the gym as determined by the Open needs that week.
Like a standard daily class, the coach will lead the group through a warmup, skill work, workout, and cooldown over the course of 1 hour.
The workout WILL be the same as the Open workout, but may be modified to give preference to Open athletes. (Ex: Handstand pushups may become pike pushups if all wall space is taken.)

A coach will do a briefing of the workout and movement standards, provide a recommended warmup, and will facilitate heat times.
We recommend that you arrive as close to the start of the class time frame as possible, but unlike a regular class, if you need to arrive late due to your personal schedule, there is more flexibility to accommodate that.
Please make sure you update your reservation in PushPress if you are unable to make it to your workout time!

Open gym will be available while the gym is open on Fridays.
Please note that equipment and space priority will be given to the Open and class participants, so not all exercises may be possible depending on the workout that week. (ex: rope climbs, wall space, certain dumbbell weights, etc.)

SCORE SHEETS & JUDGING (Global Open registrants only)
Every athlete competing in the Open will need to have a registered judge during their workout. Judges are responsible for counting reps, ensuring that all reps fully meet the movement standards and are completed in the correct order, and filling out the athlete’s official score sheet.
Judges for all Open participants MUST either be officially signed up for the global CrossFit Open OR have passed the 2025 CrossFit Judges course.
Once your workout is complete, please take a picture of your score sheet (so you can submit your score online) and place it in the score sheet folder at the front of the gym.
We are required to verify all scores with CrossFit HQ, so if your score sheet is not in the folder we will be unable to do that!
OTHER FUN STUFF
OPEN CELEBRATION ON MARCH 14TH
Whether or not you participate in the global Open, the Intramural Championship, or you just want to spend time with the Factorial community, please join us for a post-Open celebration on Friday, March 14th after the evening session.
Feel free to bring snacks and drinks to share, potluck-style as we hang out and celebrate all the achievements and fun from this year’s season!
